April 30, 1975 was the capture of South Vietnam's Capital Saigon by the North Vietnamese. In just a few days Saigon was over run by North Vietnam capturing most of the cities most important points and soon the North Vietnamese Flag was raised in the South Vietnamese presidential Palace. This was the last turning point of Vietnam turning communist. Saigon was re-named Ho Chi Minh City.
